Laundry Room

My Goal throughout this piece was to make sure my use of color within my shadows. I made sure to make black more a blueish/purple. I was surprised how thick working with oil paint was. My artwork is about color. My most difficult challenge was mixing oil paints without mixing the colors to a color I did not want. I met the challenge by slowly dragging colors into another when necessary. Using the right side of the brain involves not worrying about mistakes, in art mistakes are new ideas. My painting really works with my use of color throuhgout the areas you would not think with the left side of your brain. I have learned that using color in an exaggerated way is very drawing to the eye. Mr.G helped me realize that using this more open end of colors makes your painting more interesting to look at.  If I had to do my artwork over again I would make my proportions a little more on point. The best thing about my artwork is my use of colors really makes my shadows pop.

Dad's Workshop

My Goal throughout this piece was to make sure my use of color within my shadows were exaggerated like Wayne Thiebaud. I made sure to make black more a blueish/purple. I was suprised how much the colors make the shadows within the artwork more interesting and draws the eye. My artwork is about color. My most difficult challenge was mixing oil pastels without using smudging. I met the challenge by blending with the pastels. Using the right side of the brain involves not worrying about mistakes, in art mistakes are new ideas. My drawing really works within the shadows, the sense of color. I have learned that using color in an exaggerated way is very drawing to the eye. Georgia helped me realize that using black is to bold with oil pastels. If I had to do my artwork over again I would make my proportions a little more on point. The best thing about my artwork is my use of colors really makes my shadows pop.

Just a dash of green..

I decided to draw this picture because I thought it was an interesting viewpoint. It also has alot of emotion due to the shadows. I feel that the green really brings out the darks and lights in the drawing. One of my challenges was getting my proportions right on my face, making sure the ear, mouth and nose where in proportion. Something I would fix if I could do this drawing/painting over would be fixing the pocket and the logo on the shirt. What I believe I did well was using both my darks and lights, this showing alot of emotion in the face.

Pumpkin Drawing

Artist Statement:

My overall goal of this charcoal pumpkin drawing was to make it as realistic and emotional as possible. The way I accomplished these two goals was shading and value. What surprised me the most when completing my drawing was how much my value was correct and my blending of my colors. My drawing was huge on shadows, value, and composition. Shadows are key throughout any art work, they bring out the realistic feel. Value makes you understand to use both lights and darks, too much of one or the other makes your drawing or painting look fake. Finally composition should be interesting and draw the eyes of whoever is looking at it.

The most difficult challenged I had to face was not making my shadow to intense to the point I lost the bottom form of my pumpkin. I met this challenge by making sure that the shadow was way more in depth then the bottom of the pumpkin. This shift from the left side to the right side of my brain really kicked in when I began to squint and not look so much into detail but into the colors. My drawing really works in my value and my shapes.

I learned from this drawing that nothing is final, changes or adjustments can always be made. Mr.G, gave me this sense of composition, giving me a great view point that beings the observers eyes into my drawing. If I could do this drawing over I would fix my small pumpkin, my size is alittle off. Overall the most successful thing about my drawing was my value the dark and lights.
